RE: Brake Buddy voltage requirement

I had the same problem on my 01 Saturn, and the folks at Brake Buddy checked out my unit and found it was OK. They sent me the 12V plug connection and said to wire it directly to the battery with an in-line fuse. Never had a problem again. I now have an 08 Saturn Vue and took out the cable from the 01 and installed it in the 08, just figured that why fool around with a system that I know works well.

RE: Removing fuse on saturn Vue

Yes, you are correct. On older saturns you have to remove 1 or 2 30Amp fuses most likely under the hood. My 02 Saturn required 2 fuses being pulled from the fuse block under the hood. My new 08 Vue only needs to have a 2A fuse pulled from the fuse panel on the inside console.

RE: carpeting

If you have a floor heater register vent on the carpeted area and you remove the vent cover, you may be able to see if it is vinyl under the carpet.

RE: Has anyone used a 'SHAMWOW!!!"

Funny that this post should appear today! Last week I was in a CVS store and they had the Shamwow on a display, and I purchased it. As I live in North GA, and we are under a complete outside water ban because of our drought, I wait until we get a good rainstorm and then go out and wipe down the MH with a towel to clean it up a bit. Well, it rained yesterday, so I got a chance to use my new Shamwow this morning. I was amazed at how well an item advertised on TV worked. It sucked up the rain instantly, held together, and wrung out quite dry. Much faster, and better that a towel, and it rinsed clean. Absolutely amazing.

RE: Removing fuse on saturn Vue

I did that to my 08 Saturn Vue and used this procedure that I used.
Locate the 2 amp IGN fuse in the "Instrument Panel Fuse Block" on the passenger side. Remove the fuse, and purposely blow the fuse out.(I shorted it out with a battery charger.)
Using a knife, file or dremel tool, grind down the top of the blown fuse, so you can access the blades of the fuse. Solder a wire on each of the blades of the fuse and install an in-line fuse holder on one side of the blown fuse and put a 2A fuse in the in-line fuse holder. Re-install the blown fuse into the IGN fuse location in the "fuse panel block" Run the 2 wires, 1 from the replacement fuse holder, the other from the top of the blown fuse, under the console where the shift lever is. I mounted my switch up high on the plastic cowling near my right leg. Just drill a hole wherever you want the swith to be and install the switch. As I use a Brake Buddy on my Saturn, it is easy to install the BB and toggle the fuse switch at the same time. BE AWARE, however, if you have the switch set in the fuse out position, you can not start the vehicle. (Don't ask how I know.) I put a label on the switch stating "fuse in" and "fuse out"

RE: Pine Sap

I also camp in the White Mountains of NH and must have been parked my car under the same trees as you. I was told by a friend in NH, who works in a body shop, to use DENATURED ALCHOL, and this will take the sap right off. It works great with hardly any rubbing, but left a haze on my silver vehicle. However, Windex took the haze off without any effect on the finish. The camper roof was not under the pine trees but was under an oak that was constantly seeping and left a mess on the corner of the roof. I cleaned that up with Murphys Oil Soap when I returned home. Good Luck

RE: Eternabond How to videos

Thanks for the info on the videos. My Eternabond arrived today, and I am planning on starting a roof re-seal tommorow. The videos definitely will be helpful.

RE: Does that carpeting outside trailer help keep dirt out?

Yes, is absolutely helps keep the inside of your camper clean. We had one of the "green grass" type of rugs when we had our TT, but got rid of it fast. It was always holding dirt and mud, a PITA to fold, hard to clean, and hard to carry. We now use a 9'x12' plastic "patio mat" and have been very pleased with it. Just sweep it off, or hose it down to clean, and the dirt just drops through it. The last one I had lasted almost 5 years, and was just replaced last week with a new one that I bought on e-Bay for around $49.00 with free shipping.

RE: Conway, NH, fly fishing RV Park

We stay here every summer for a week http://www.sacorivercampingarea.com/
This year I saw 2 fly guys in the river, dont know if they were catching anything. The river run aside the campground.
We are also at the faire that weekend ,staying in the Fairgrounds.
Like ozman said, DW and I were at Saco River Camping area for 6 weeks this summer, and saw fly fishermen going to the river. It is an easy walk from any campsite. Didn't see anyone bringing home dinner, but I know there are trout in the Saco River.
Reservations at the campground are necessary, as they were filled up for most of our 6 week stay. However, reservations are only accepted for a minimun of 5 days, otherwise, it is first come first serve for overnight spots if any are available. Great campground with very active owners.

I have Coach-Net and do not belong to any other groups. However, my MH came with a 1 year policy to Coach-Net, and I have just continued to renew it.

RE: NEW ENGLAND

You are looking at a peak camping time in New England. You need to make reservations now (it may already be too late) if you plan on being in the area at "leaf peeping time". As far as camping near Boston, I would suggest Minuteman CG in Littleton Ma. It is just off of I-495, and very close to the train station that takes you into Boston. DW and I were just there last week, and have stayed there many times. Do not wait on making reservations!!

RE: Where did all the analog VOMs go?

Sounds like you could use a "Simpson model 260". I used them all the time when I was in the service, and it was a great unit. There are some available on
e-Bay, but they are pricey. If you look on e-Bay, make sure you read the listing carefully, as some of them are not complete meters.

Have you noticed that the TP rolls are now much narrower? They just kind of flop around in the holder.

RE: Buyer Beware!

Just bought a pack of Dial Gold soap for the MH, which is the normal brand I use. Found that instead of the normal bar shape, it has now been scooped out in the middle of the top and bottom, less soap more money. The main problem is that it is now impossible to hold while showering, and with the small shwers in RV's it is a big PIA. Time to find another brand.

RE: Overnight stay on either I-81S or I-95S, in VA

Good spot (campground) just behind the Flying J in Wytheville about 2-3 miles south of the I-77 s/b off ramp.
It's called Ft. Chiswell RV Park. We have stayed there many times, and were there just last week. Easy on-off of interstate, and all pull through sites. It is a great overnight stop.

RE: bug remover

Any cheap dryer sheet that you can purchase at the discount store will work. Just make sure that no matter which one you use, you rinse off the area well. Just completed a 1400 mile trip and had lots of bugs on the front of the MH, and had them washed of in 10 minutes. Works great!

RE: Going Thru Hartford, CT

I will be traveling on that route next friday, and always get into the middle lane. It is the only way to keep out of trouble, until you are traveling at the speed of all the other traffic, and then someone tries to pass you on the right hand "slow traffic lane" and cuts you off at the merge. Be very carefull going through Hartford. We travel from the Atlanta area to northern NH , and this is the worst part of the trip.

RE: 2008 Chevy Equinox FWD

I don't understand why your 08 Vue can't be wired up. Mine was done last week using diodes, and all of the lights are working fine. It can be done, but probably requires some added work.

RE: 2008 Chevy Equinox FWD

I had a chance to purchase an 2007 Equinox at a good price and found out that it can not be towed 4 down without a transmission pump. So, I now have an 08 Saturn Vue, Same body type, but different transmission.
